The Shapton Professional #5000 whetstone is a fine sharpening stone that gives an excellent edge and will polish hard steels, especially the high carbon edges of Japanese tools and knives.
As with the rest of the Shapton Professional range, the #5000 is manufactured to maintain flatness for a relatively long time. For best results, we recommend regular light flattening of the stone with either a diamond plate or sandpaper on glass.
The #5000 stone is a finishing stone and from this point any tools can be expected to cut extremely well.
